TOGETHER WITH YOU, we're bringing people together in Rockwood to ensure that no one is invisible and that everyone has access to food, freedom, and forgiveness. TOGETHER WITH YOU, we envision Rockwood becoming a community of holistic prosperity where people are becoming followers of Jesus, and where everyone has the right to earn, learn, and belong.
2022 Block Party
Unfortunately, on the day of our block party this year the air quality in Portland was terrible, due to smoke from fires (see photo above). As a result, many of our neighbors needed to stay home and inside. Fortunately, some of our neighbors came and we had a very enjoyable time building on current relationships and making new friends with new neighbors. Below are a few of the photos from the day. Thank you for praying that we can continue to build bridges that help our neighbors experience the love of Jesus.
Short-term Mission in Austria
Thank you so much to all who gave and/or prayed as an investment in our mission trip to The Oasis in Austria. It was so encouraging to see that not only is it still going after all these years (35) but it is being led by quality people who are loving the refugees well.
The highlights of the trip for me included: 1. Participating in the Polish Church service in Vienna that was started by new young Polish believers over 30 years ago! Meeting some of their grown children and learning of how they are also following Jesus was very encouraging. 2. Meeting with our friends J and C, who came from a country in the east and met Jesus at The Oasis back in 1987, and served Him for many years back in the east before returning recently to Austria. 3. Seeing my team love on the refugees and serve the Oasis staff so well. In fact, I believe they are ready to lead a short-term team themselves next time around! 4. Helping lead an Iranian to Jesus. Here is a brief summary as written by one of The Oasis staff...
M from Iran is actually not new to Austria. He has lived here for 24 years, so he is established and no longer a refugee. However, when a teammate invited M to come to a gospel outreach evening, he gladly accepted because he wanted to learn more about Jesus. He had visited our teammate's church in Vienna a couple times and was very open to hearing more. This past Wednesday night, he came and heard the message and then stayed after to talk and ask questions. The next night he came again to our coffee house and asked me (Jeremy) for a book of Luke in Farsi. After I gave him the book, he sat down at a table and read intently for quite a while. Later in the evening, he sat down with a short term worker (Scott McCracken) and told him he was interested in becoming a Christian. Scott asked me to come and help translate into German as he clearly explained the gospel message. M told us that he believed in Jesus and wanted to pray to receive his gift of salvation right then. Three of us went to another room with him to pray as he gave his life to the Lord and we prayed for him. After the time of prayer, he shared with us that earlier that evening, he felt like he didn't want to come to the Oasis and was going to stay home. He told someone in his apartment complex that he wasn't going to go to the Oasis that night, and they said to him, "Why not? Why not just go?" He said he was very glad that he came and that after he prayed to Jesus, he felt such a peace in his heart, like a great burden had been lifted off him. M is going to continue to go to our teammate's church and meet with him each week as he seeks to grow in his new faith. Pray for him as he does so. I also received a text this week from one of the staff who said M showed up at the church in Vienna on Sunday and still was holding on to the "Bridge illustration" I had shared with him last week.

Staff retreat
I love our team!
Unfortunately, due to security reasons and ministry restrictions, we are not able to show you more photos that included refugees' faces.
Because of YOU, we are able to educate others about sex trafficking, help foster collaboration amongst churches in an at-risk community, disciple others who will disciple others, and take the Gospel to the nations!Thank you for allowing God to use your prayers and financial investments to help this happen!
