2021 Has Been a Full Year
(2022 Looks to Be Fuller)
We want to wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS! We hope and pray that 2022 will find you experiencing more of the active presence of God in your life. We hope you enjoy this brief snapshot of our life and ministry in 2021.
Our dear friend Kelly joined our household in January, and it has continued to be a great fit for all of us.
We lost Vicki's dad in February, continuing to mourn our loss and rejoice in his gain.
Scott started 3 YouTube channels focusing on stories, marriage, and parenting.
For about 2 years now, Scott has had a growing relationship with Joshua (look for his testimony in an upcoming newsletter). Also, Scott and Vicki do regular marriage mentoring with Joshua and his wife Kehli.
My mentoring relationship with "H" is going on 8 years now. We hit a major bump this year but asking God's help to move forward.
Our 3rd grandchild (first grandson--Luke) was born to Kendra and Steve (in Scotland) in June!
Scott got to visit our good friend Gregor in Macedonia, where his family is on their 3rd mission.
Kyle and Olga were able to spend their 1 year anniversary with us in Portland!
We led a great team from our church to serve the refugee ministry in Athens.
We hosted our annual block party!
We had our annual "Rockwood 7", a week of churches in Rockwood praying with and or each other, which we started 5 years ago.
Our Wednesday night small group is one of our discipleship efforts that meets in our home and has been together for almost 4 years!
Our Sunday evening home group is a great group of people following Jesus together for about 16 months now.
Scott has been discipling Antonio for a little over a year (look for his testimony in the near future).
Andy and Frank and I meet together over breakfast to discuss together how to follow Jesus more closely and help others do the same. I have had a discipleship relationship with Frank for 5 or 6 years.
Although I have known Jozef (from Albania) and "J" (Afghani from Iran) for many years, this year I started meeting with each of them individually for weekly discipleship training over Zoom. Javid is in Germany and Jozef is in Kansas. Both of these brothers are big encouragers to me, as I see Jesus show up in them regularly! Look for Jozef's testimony in the near future.
All four of our oldest kids are sharing Christmas together in Scotland this year, so we will celebrate as a family on January 10th. How else do you think I have time to send out an update today? :)
Like many of you, not everything went the way we hoped or planned in 2021 but God has been faithful to guide and provide, and He has used many of you in the process. This has been an ENCOURAGING year for us. THANK YOU!
THANK YOU for joining us in prayer concerning some upcoming things (Lord willing) in 2022:
-- Our church's move back into Rockwood (we had to pull out in summer of 2020)
-- A Marriage Class Scott will be teaching for 8 weeks, starting mid-January
-- A small team from our church Scott hopes to take to The Oasis in Austria, in September
-- A small team from 6 DIFFERENT CHURCHES in ROCKWOOD Scott hopes to take to Helping Hands in Athens at the end of July
-- Scott has been developing a small team of teachers in our Adult Bible Study at church. He is planning to transition off that team soon to start another group for (probably) seekers or new believers
Because of YOU, we are able to educate others about sex trafficking, help foster a collaborative spirit amongst churches in an at-risk community, disciple others who will disciple others, and take the Gospel to the nations! Thank you for allowing God to use your prayers and financial investments to help this happen!
