January/February 2021 Update from the McCrackens

McCracken Memo Jan—Feb 2021

TOGETHER WITH YOU, we're bringing people together in Rockwood to ensure that no one is invisible and that everyone has access to food, freedom, and forgiveness. TOGETHER WITH YOU, we envision Rockwood becoming a community of holistic prosperity where children are less vulnerable to being trafficked, adults do not want to traffic kids, and people are becoming followers of Jesus.

Instead of the usual printed update, we decided to send you the video that one of our supporting churches used in their Missions Sunday service this past weekend…IF you prefer the printed version of the talk it is included below as well. (The video has some additional photos as well).

RDFC Missions Sunday March 2021—How We Have Been Loving on Our Neighbors Luke 4:18-19 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” 1. Proclaim Good News to the Poor…(not just THE Good News) A. (Hank) B. (Billy) C. Rockwood CDC food distribution D. (Pre-Covid and Post-Covid) Tamale Prayer Outreach 2. Proclaim Freedom for the Prisoners… A. (Darrell) in prison for 16 years trying to shed the prison culture (Marriage classes and MMM) 3. Recovery of Sight for the Blind… A. (Manny) … One day in early November, I received this text from a woman we know: Hi Scott. I am reaching out for prayers...(My husband) is extremely depressed. He is in the garage, crying and saying he is just done... I immediately went over to their house and spent time listening to, talking with, and praying for this man we have known for several years. He is a wonderful man and a believer who cannot seem to break the cycle of addictions, after trying many things, including different treatment programs. His addictions in drugs, alcohol, and pornography were deep. To be honest, I left there not believing I had been the least bit helpful. He was pretty convinced that taking his own life was what would be best for everyone, and I mostly expected he would do just that soon afterward. The good news is he is still with us, and from that day he has not taken any drugs or alcohol, and he was just able this month to get into a faith-based long-term residential rehab facility! We spent some time together almost every week for the last few months that was very encouraging, and I will add seemed even miraculous to me! B. (Debbie) and the Teaching Team 4. Set the Oppressed Free.. A. (Stella)…Not long ago I received a message from a lady we’ll call Stella, looking for someone to come bless her house. I called her back. Her son is almost 2 and was scaring her with his behavior and wouldn’t go in his room because he was afraid. He was talking to and growling at the air. Also, her nephew was staying with her and brought some demonic influence into the home. She was afraid there was something evil there and worried that she would do something wrong and make it worse. She was crying and scared the whole phone call. I told her that, if she were willing, I would like to have 5 meetings with her (4 via Zoom, and one at her house): Meeting 1 to talk about her salvation and relationship with God; Meeting 2 to look together at an “inventory” of possible "open doors" to the demonic; Meeting 3 to talk about her family members and warfare prayer; Meeting 4 to take place at her home and do a prayer walk through her house and do possible warfare against potential infestations; and Meeting 5 to Equip her for future battle. She agreed. Stella accepted Christ after that first meeting and had a much different demeanor for Meeting 2 on the next day (and in her words she "felt much lighter"). What really encouraged me was she seemed to really get faith (apart from feeling) and had a strong understanding that God is with her whether she feels Him or not. I was able to take a pastor friend (whose church is just down the street from where Stella lives) to do some warfare praying in her house, and who was willing to do follow-up with her, which has been taking place. Thanks for your continued prayers for Stella, especially that she would continue to grow in faith, walk in freedom, and fellowship with a faith family. 5. Proclaim the Year of the Lord’s Favor… A. Block Party B. Going to store for neighbors C. Drop in visits to neighbors D. Keeping communication/fellowship/Bible studies going online or a hybrid…ABS, Life Group, Sunday Evening Home Group, classes and discipleship groups as well as one-on-ones; fulfilling Hebrews 10:24-25 without meeting in a building E. Church leadership and leadership development F. GO Team and the Athens STM Team H. Community Prayer Walk Interesting Fact About Portland: In Portland, you could visit 2 different food carts every night for 3 years, and never go to the same food cart twice.

Because of YOU, we are able to educate others about sex trafficking, help foster a collaborative spirit amongst churches in an at-risk community, disciple others who will disciple others, and take the Gospel to the nations! Thank you for allowing God to use your prayers and financial investments to help this happen!
