View this email in your browserIt has not snowed in Portland in April since 1940...until this year!
TOGETHER WITH YOU, we're bringing people together in Rockwood to ensure that no one is invisible and that everyone has access to food, freedom, and forgiveness. TOGETHER WITH YOU, we envision Rockwood becoming a community of holistic prosperity where people are becoming followers of Jesus, and where everyone has the right to earn, learn, and belong.
Two years ago, in our April 2020 update, we included the following prayer request:
D.K. is a pre-believer, a seeker, who has been attending some of our online meetings since the quarantine started. He and I have been interacting through Messenger and phone conversations. I believe he is close to the Kingdom.
Since that time, D.K. and I have been meeting together off and on, sometimes via Messenger texting and phone calls, more lately in face-to-face conversations over coffee. With a nominally religious background, a keen mind, and a big grasp of his own sinfulness, he has had a difficult time wrapping his head around the concept of GRACE.
Until a few months ago.
After all the conversations, looking at Bible verses, sharing powerful sermon and Gospel illustrations, prayer with him and prayer for him, he finally said, "I am finally grasping God's grace and it is changing me from the inside--out."
He was baptized on Easter Sunday (along with others), and we continue to meet regularly for honest and hard Bible conversations about what it means to truly follow Jesus. Thank you for continuing to pray for his spiritual growth in Jesus.
(By the way, a few months ago he asked me what are the Top 10 lessons I have learned since following Jesus. What a great question! I thought hard about it for a couple of weeks and came up with my 10. I will tell you mine if you tell me yours.) :)
PRAYER REQUESTS (The Big 3)
1. Scott is still trying to discern the Lord's leadership concerning a discipleship system/strategy that is a good fit for our non-traditional church/community context. Thank you for praying for the Lord's revelation.
2. Our multi-church team from Rockwood is still planning to go serve refugees in the Helping Hands ministry in Athens the last week of July/first week of August, God willing! It is a great team of people I am really loving and am grateful for!
Our hope and prayer is that, among other important things, it will be a major investment into the unity of the Church in Rockwood, and will lead to great collaborative efforts locally.
If you would like to make a financial investment in this ministry opportunity that combines discipleship and leadership development with bringing the Gospel to the nations (i.e., people from "closed countries"), you can either:
A. Write a check to One Collective, with an enclosed note that designates "Rockwood Athens Mission Team", account # 50US3598, and send to
One Collective 2155 Point Blvd #200
Elgin, IL 60123
...OR...
B. Give online at: https://give.onecollective.org/ Fill out the relevant info, and in the "Giving to Support" section write, account # 50US3598 (the digit after the first 5 is a ZERO, not the letter O).
3. Our small team from As Is Church is still planning to go serve refugees in Austria at The Oasis refugee ministry we helped start back in 1987. I will introduce them to you next month. All four are beautiful people with whom I have been in discipleship relationships for years now. Please pray for healing for one of them who has some serious health concerns.
Also, Our ENTIRE TEAM only needs another $6334.34…that is $1,266.86 each… to complete our total. This includes airfare, food, accommodations, ministry supplies, etc. In addition to my request that you will be praying for me, I would like to ask you to join me in this exciting venture by financially investing. As Is Church has set up a special account so that if you want to help support us, you can send a tax-deductible investment, made out to As Is Church, and send to:
As Is Church
6828 SE Holgate Blvd
Portland, OR 97206
(Please include a clear note that this is for the AUSTRIA Mission Trip)
OR online giving at: https://www.asis.church/give.html As you fill out the relevant info, write in the COMMENT BOX: AUSTRIA MISSION TRIP
Thank you for any way you feel God leads you to help.Together we can join God in His mission to reach the nations with the Gospel!
Because of YOU, we are able to educate others about sex trafficking, help foster collaboration amongst churches in an at-risk community, disciple others who will disciple others, and take the Gospel to the nations!Thank you for allowing God to use your prayers and financial investments to help this happen!
