April 2020 Update from the McCrackens

The Portland guy who usually does this dressed as Darth Vader is now the COVID-19 Virus.

TOGETHER WITH YOU, we're bringing people together in Rockwood to ensure that no one is invisible and that everyone has access to food, freedom, and forgiveness. TOGETHER WITH YOU, we're working on PREVENTING trafficking, dovetailing with our Integrated Community Transformation mission.   TOGETHER WITH YOU, we envision Rockwood becoming a community where children are less vulnerable to being trafficked and adults do not want to traffic kids.

Interesting Facts About Portland

(from MovementPortland.com)

Starting in January, we have been adding an interesting fact about Portland each month.

April's Fact:  Portland has more strip clubs, per capita, than any other city in the U.S.

The MosaixPDX group (multicultural ministry network) usually meets at a different church facility each time.  The Corona Craziness is bringing us together via ZOOM.  If you find the Greek beach in the screenshot, you can find me.  :)  As I (Scott) mentioned in our last update, I am still doing pretty much everything I was doing before except differently now.  I am mentoring, discipling, leading, teaching, encouraging, and attending meetings through the phone, Zoom, and Facebook Live.

In our last letter we mentioned that our 59-year-old brother-in-law Mark Powell had seen his cancerous tumors shrink after the most recent scans.  However, he has taken a turn for the worse and it looks likely that sometime between the next few days and the next few weeks he will be going to see Jesus.  Although the family grieves with HOPE, we covet your prayers in this painfully difficult time.

Many of you know Mark and what an enthusiastic lover of Jesus and people he is.  He and Scott's sister Dana have ministered to un-countable souls over the years, and he has been an outstanding husband, father, grandfather, counselor, friend, witness for Christ, youth worker, etc.  His gain will definitely be our loss.

PRAYER REQUESTS * We are still hoping to lead a short-term mission team to the refugee ministries in Austria and Athens in October, but we have not yet received a green light or red light from the ministry teams there.  Meanwhile, we are preparing in faith, hoping and praying for a green light when the time comes.  So far, between the 12 of us on the two teams we have raised $40, but there is still time for a miracle! * D.K. is a pre-believer, a seeker, who has been attending some of our online meetings since the quarantine started.  He and I have been interacting through Messenger and phone conversations.  I believe he is close to the Kingdom. * I am working on a couple of seminars to do online and then have accessible after that. *  Our son Kyle was accepted into the doctorate program at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland to work on his PhD.  He only needs an enormous financial miracle to pursue it in the fall.  But that's what God is good at, right? * Our two oldest children, Kendra and Cody, are nurses serving on the front lines.  Thank you for interceding on their behalf. Our son William was planning to finish school in June and move out to share a place with a friend.  Looks like he will finish school but is not sure about the timeline now of moving out. *  Ellie has been doing distance learning from home, which is not nearly as enjoyable to her as going to school.  Pray she pays attention.  :)

SPECIAL MESSAGE:

We know these are especially difficult times for MANY people.  For those who invested in our ministry last month and this month:  THANK YOU!  For those who are not able to in these days, WE UNDERSTAND and do not want you to feel undue pressure (from without or from within).  We know that GOD is our Source and sometimes he changes the channel through which He provides.  And sometimes He provides times of testing (for all of us).   THANK YOU FOR WHATEVER PRAYERS on our behalf, AND WHATEVER FINANCIAL BLESSINGS, you are able to offer to God through our ministry...whenever...however.  We are grateful for you. Please let us know how we can be praying for you!
